Performance of the Digital Economy Sector as assessed by an Independent Bodies and presented during the last Ministerial Retreat as Organized by the Presidency.

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami) making his remarks during the #DigitalNigeriaDay2022 Press Conference.

Minister Pantami informed the gathering about the unprecedented achievement recorded in the Digital Economy Sector under his stewardship in line with the 8 priority areas of the Federal Government.

The ICT Sector provided 3 unprecedented contributions to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP); according to report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In an assessment carried out by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), United Kingdom, and KPMG, among others, in partnership with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in the Presidency.

The assessment was based on the output indicators and milestones for the 8 Ministerial Deliverables and the Ministry obtained the highest grade in each of the deliverables. 70% is A grade and distinction. It is the highest anticipated from the ministries. The scores of the Ministry for each deliverable are given below:

Implementation of Broadband Connectivity – 134%

Deployment of 4G across the country – 127%

Digitalising Government Functions and Process – 99%

Deployment and Implementation of a National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy – 103%

Implementation of a Digital Identify Programme – 86%

Improvement and Optimization of Revenues from all operators and licensees in the agencies under the Ministry’s supervision – 594%. The sector remitted over N408Billion within a quarter, as against the N51Billion as used to be the maximum remittance before Pantami.

Active Collaboration with the Private Sector to create jobs – 111%

Empowerment of Citizens – 137%, among others.
